The Department of Biology participates in the college-wide Biological Sciences Program. This program subdivides the biological sciences into five areas of specialization: General Biology, Cell Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, Physiology and Neurobiology, and Ecology and Evolution. The program caters to students with interests in all elements of biology from molecules to ecosystems. In addition, we oversee the Biological Diversity and Conservation specialization of the university-wide program in Enviromental Science and Policy.

Our graduates are successful getting into the most-competitive graduate programs and professional schools in the nation. Students interested in medicine, dentistry, and other allied health fields should meet with a prehealth advisor. Those considering veterinary school should check out the requirements for those programs.
